The start of the story...I've always dreamed of illustrating children's books so a few years ago I decided to give it a go, completely for my own enjoyment (and as a present for my baby nephew), but people seemed to like it - they even wanted to buy copies!
So I began book project #2 - Mooncheese. I wanted to make it really special, the way that the first book I'd made for my nephew was, with his name all the way through the story. Mooncheese can be personalised to make a really unique gift for any young child - with their name, a photo of them and a personal message inside. "You are so gifted! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!"
"I'm sure my great niece will love it - especially with her name in it!" "The book arrived - I love it :) thank you so much" "I think that you are a very talented artist" "It's an awesome story!!! You're a legend" |
Bereavement Books"Your Daddy" and "Your Mummy" were both amazing commissioned projects in which I wrote and illustrated a book for four very special young children all about their daddy and their mummy.
It was a privilege to work on such special and unique books. The customers and I worked together on the text so that they could tell their story exactly how they wished, but using child-friendly language and the kind of rhythm one expects from a children's book. Now I am helping families create their own books similar to this, with my bereavement scrapbooking workshops. |

God's Big StoryThis year I had the opportunity to illustrate a children's book for Sam Jordan. God's Big Story tells the BIG story of the Bible and what it means for us today, with questions to spark discussion with your little one and colourful illustrations filling every page.
The images were created using ArtRage 4 and a Wacom Bamboo graphics tablet. |

Doodle DevotionsDoodle Devotions is my most recent book. The concept came about after I bought my mum a plain notebook and added simple doodle prompts, challenges and activities to each page. I began planning a devotional along the same lines.
I set up a Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds to do the first print run and, amazingly, I met my target within 24 hours and ended up raising 170% of my target. I was even offered a publishing contract for it! The first print run sold out within a couple of weeks and the books have been used in youth groups, schools and families. See my 'Chaplaincy Resources' page for more information about this devotional resource and others in the series. |
